A FESTIVE NIGHT ON THE SQUARE

The City of Joburg is celebrating the switching-on of festive lights and a spectacular 17 metre tree which will delight both young and old, at the Mary Fitzgerald Square on Thursday 11th December 2003, at 18:00. The tree consists of 10 1/2 tons of steel with a 3 metre star burst on top. A spiral of 8 000 lights runs down the tree. The event will be hosted by the Executive Acting Mayor, Councillor Nkele Ntingane who will officially switch on the lights.

Entertainment will be provided by the youth choir, Royal Priesthood Ministries from Soweto and Tu Nokwe & Amajika youth school.

The City of Joburg invites the public to become part of this exciting event and join in the festivities.

Start the festive season in our beautiful city in the right spirit. Come and experience Joburg's sensational, pulsating rhythm and heartbeat.
