Johannesburg to host a Regional Youth Summit

The City of Johannesburg Youth Affairs Unit in partnership with Gauteng Youth Directorate and Eldorado Park & Kliptown Urban Regeneration Youth Programme are convening the Johannesburg Regional Youth Summit.

The Youth Summit, with a theme: " YOUTH IN ACTION TO SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES OF OUR DEMOCRACY. PUSHING BACK THE FRONTIERS OF POVERTY" will be held from the 22nd to 24th May 2003 at the Shaft 17 ? Nasrec, starting at 09h00 in the morning.

Among other goals, the Regional Youth Summit seeks to ensure that youth at regional level begin to actively address issues of youth development and empowerment.

The Regional Youth Summit provides a platform for preparations for the provincial youth summit. It attempts to assess progress made in the implementation of the resolution of the Provincial Youth Summit 2002. The summit will also deal with the alignment of the Integrated Youth Development Strategy 2003-2003 and the identification of issues that needs to be considered by the Provincial Youth Summit 2003.
