Metrobus MD resigns
Mr Asokan Poogesen Naidoo, the Managing Director of Johannesburg Metropolitan Bus Services (Pty) Limited, has announced his resignation, as he is seeking new challenges and opportunities.
He has made major changes in Metrobus and positioned it to become the leading Bus Transport Company in the country by putting in place a leanership programme, targeting 200 new drivers, consisting of 40 females and 160 males, received from the Transport Training Authority which enhances professional driving.
Naidu, who brought equity to Metrobus, has achieved a complete turn-around as he revolutionised the company by introducing 200 brand new, world-class buses that consists of 150 double-deckers and 50 single-deckers. Metrobus was also the first bus company in the country to have an on-line vehicle tracking and driver monitoring system.
Naido's duties and responsibilities were developing and implementing of business strategies, plans, goals and objectives, management of the overall performance of Metrobus and corporate governance.
His other key focus areas were service delivery excellence, affordable transport service, adhere to schedule and continuously improve operations. As part of Metrobus' endeavour to improve customer service, Naidu has embarked on an intensive programme to upgrade the skills of its 969-strong staff complement. He also brought about change by making Metrobus a brand that offers value for money, safety, reliability, convenience and comfort.
Naidu, was elected as a member of the executive committee of the Southern African Bus Operators' Association (SABOA) in 1995 and currently holds the position of National Vice President of the South African Bus Operators' Association.
