Press Release
Ennerdale Open Day
The City of Johannesburg will be hosting an Open Day in Ennerdale from 7 to 9 August 2004 to allow residents of Ennerdale, Mid-Ennerdale and Lawley the opportunity of sorting out their billing queries.
The Open Days will take place from 8am to 4pm at the Municipal Offices in Extensions 1 and 9.
Mayoral Committee Member for Finance and Economic Development Councillor Parks Tau said, "We meeting residents on their doorstep so that we jointly attempt to resolve billing queries over the three days".
"We want to encourage a sense of responsibility with regard to the payment of accounts and gradually re-instill confidence in Council's processes", Tau said.
He further said that residents would have the opportunity of verifying their accounts, make suitable debt repayment arrangements and receive information on the current Credit Control Policy. Council will also be compiling a database of indigent persons during the open days.
Council officials and Ward Councillors have been engaging residents since November 2003 on their billing queries. Although residents are still complaining about the accuracy of billing some progress has been made in reducing the number of queries received each month.
