COUNCIL MEETING TO BE HELD ON THURSDAY

The 20th Ordinary meeting of Council of the City of Johannesburg will be held in the Council Chamber, Ground Floor, Metropolitan Centre, BRAAMFONTEIN on Thursday, 19 September 2002 at 2pm.

According to Tasneem Carrim, the City's head responsible for communications, Council will among other items on the Agenda, consider the following:

• Acquisition of Erven 481 and 487 for the purpose of establishing a transit facility: Alexandra Renewal Project
• Inclusion of the "Seven Buildings Company" in the Better Buildings Programme
• Enforcement of Tobacco Control Act
• Progress Report on the establishment of Centre of Excellence/ Health
• Precinct in Esselen Street - Hillbrow
• Monitoring and status of surface water quality in the City of Johannesburg
• Councillor capacitation and development
• Amendments and Updates to the COJ procurement policies and procedures.
