City companies join hands to better revenue collection


City of Johannesburg municipal service entities-Joburg Water, Pikitup, City
Power together with the City's Revenue Department are to work together in a
Shared Service Centre, a Council meeting resolved today.


The centre, which will be looking at transaction processing functions with
regards to revenue, will also improve customer care, fast-track resolution
of revenue improvement projects, minimise the disruptions to staff, reduce
costs of duplication and will generally improve staff effectiveness and
efficiency.


The shared service centre is essentially an operating model that provides
improved access to customers and allows improved customer management. It
also meets the City's needs by minimising duplications and risks associated
with decentralisation, including the risk of municipal service entities not
sharing transaction processes.
