COUNCIL APPROVES THE BUILDING OF A LIBRARY IN ORANGE FARM
The City of
Johannesburg approved the acceptance of a R350 00 grant aimed
at building a
library in Orange Farm, South of Johannesburg.
In August 2001 the
City of Johannesburg and the Provincial housing board
put together R3 million
rands for the construction of a library in Orange
Farm. However these funds
were insufficient for the entire construction and
furnishing the library. The
Gauteng Province advised the City of
Johannesburg (Council) that they have
allocated a further R350 000 towards
the construction of a library in Orange
Farm.
The funds are to be utilized for the completion of the Library
as well as
furniture and fittings for the new library. This facility is
urgently
require by the community and will contribute positively toward an
improved
quality of live of the Orange Farm Community.
Council
said that the principle behind the acceptance of these funds is to
extend the
provision of basic services to the previously disadvantaged
communities. It
is expected that this project will be completed by the end
of July
2002
