COUNCIL TO REMOVE ALL ILLEGAL SIGNAGE
The
City of Johannesburg is embarking upon a
full scale cleaning and
clearing the City of all illegal advertising on
Council property.
Members of the Metropolitan
Police Department (MPD) are assisting to
physically
remove and impound all mobile/ transit signs, posters,
banners
and any form of advertising signs, which is illegally parked
and placed on
or fixed to Council property.
This is a
final warning to all members of the public who are contravening
the
City of Johannesburg Advertising Signs and Hoarding Bylaws
published
under Local Authority Notice 7170 dated 28 November 2001,
effective from 1
December 2001.
Council will impound the
signs and boards. Any signs or advertising boards
which have
been removed and impounded but not destroyed by Council as
a
result of non-compliance with these by-laws may be released to the
original
owner at the following rates:
Cost of removal of
R500-00
Plus R50-00 per square metre of any advertising
display.
