World Summit Roadshow hits SOWETO by storm!!
Soweto here we come! The
Road to Johannesburg campaign, which was started
to mobilize South Africans
to participate in the World Summit on
Sustainable Development, comes to
Soweto on Friday, 09 August 2002.
To spice up the event, a line-up of Kwaito
greats including Mdu, Arthur,
Tokollo, Kabelo and Alaska will wow the crowds
with some tracks from their
latest albums.
Music lovers are
expected to be captivated for much longer at the
Orlando Stadium from 12h00 -
till late where they will celebrate the
country s hosting of the World Summit
On Sustainable Development.
The free concert is part of the package of
activities aimed at creating
awareness among South Africans to then influence
the agenda of the World
Summit on Sustainable Development. The Summit will be
held in
Johannesburg from August 26 to September 4, 2002.
The Department
of Environment and Tourism Affairs (DEAT) has taken the
roadshow to Eastern
Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga etc.
But as the Summit
approaches, the momentum comes nearer to the host city.
