               It's a final countdown for Joburg politicians


Johannesburg,  the  host  City  of  the  2002  World  Summit on Sustainable
Development  will this week consider a special motion regarding the biggest
gathering on earth.


Executive  Mayor  Clr  Amos  Masondo  is expected to on Thursday, 22 August
during   the   Council  Meeting  at  the  Council  Chamber,  Ground  Floor,
Metropolitan Centre, Braamfontein at 2pm, address Council on all aspects of
the City's readiness days ahead of the global summit.


The  Executive  Mayor's  motion  will  be  contained in his last address to
Council  before  the  summit  and  this speech will also serve as the final
briefing  to  the  world and the nation on the City's state of readiness to
host the summit.
