DISPOSING OF BUILDERS RUBBLE IN JOBURGINTRODUCTION
This guide is meant for property owners and developers wishing to undertake renovations, upgrading and extension to their properties. Often households embark on a renovation exercise without considering how are they going to dispose of the rubble afterwards.
HOW DO I DISPOSE-OFF BUILDERS RUBBLE
Building rubble can be taken to four Pikitup five landfill sites:
Robinson Deep - Turffontein Road, Turffontein; Goudkoppies - Houthammer Road, Devland Extension 1, Marie Louise - Dobsonville Road, Roodepoort; Ennerdale - Old Lawley Road, Lawley
Please note - building rubble will not be accepted at any garden-sites as these are reserved for green waste only.
Arrangements can be made with Pikitup for the hiring of a bulk container (skip) in which building rubble can be disposed of.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO DISPOSE OF BUILDERS RUBBLE?
- At the landfill site:
- Clean soil that can be used as landfill cover will betaken free of charge.
- Soil that is mixed with building rubble and other objects will be charged for at R48.58 per 500 kg (including VAT).
- Organising skip at your property
- A week's notice is needed for a skip to be delivered.
- Phone the Pikitup contact centre of Joburg Connect to order a skip
- A common six cubic metres bulk containers (Skip) cost only R595.00 (excluding VAT).
Payments can be made in cash or by cheque when delivery takes place. You can also pay via credit card or debit card at the Pikitup head office or at the depot from which the skip will be delivered. Should a customer with to have the container fir more than three days; an additional R30.00 will be charged per day.
WHY MUST I NOT DUMP RUBBLE AT ANY OTHER OPEN SPACE?
If you dump builder's rubble illegally you will be issued with a fine and possibly face a jail term. A fine of up to R1000 may be issued to anyone contravening the by-laws.
WHAT MUST I DO WHEN I WITNESS ILLEGAL DUMPING?
Act responsibly - it is your environment. Report illegal dumping by calling Joburg Connect on 375-5555 or Pikitup contact centre on 712-5200. Don't forget to write down the car registration number of the offenders!
