17 July 2006 A COMPANY CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE MAYORAL AIDS FUND RENA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS, a 100% black empowerment company, that supplies copiers; printers; faxes, & stationery, today donated an amount of R5 000 towards the Joburg Mayoral AIDS Fund. A Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Health Services, Councilor Matshidiso Mfikoe received a cheque at a ceremony, which was also attended by the City Manager of the City of Joburg, Mr Mavela Dlamini. The MMC indicated that Joburg AIDS Council, under the leadership of the Executive Mayor, established the Joburg Mayoral AIDS fund, as a vehicle through which to generate funds that are used to assist in supporting and putting a smile on the faces of many of our children and grand parents affected by the HIV and AIDS epidemic. The City Manager acknowledged the donation, and posed a challenge to other individuals, businesses and organisations to also contribute towards the fund. During November 2005, the Mayoral AIDS Fund, through a project entitled 'Buckets of Love and Care', assisted about 3 000 orphans, child headed households and grand mothers across the City Of Johannesburg, looking after their orphaned grand children were provided with buckets filled with grocery items, together with vegetable and fruit bags. It is through these generous contributions and support from members of the public and the corporate sector that the City can continue to raise funds to support people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS.
