Business Connexion becomes Community Connexion
Tomorrow, 26 August 2005, 60 employees from the well known ICT company Business Connexion will give the Thuthukani crèche in Ivory Park a much needed facelift. As part of a 10 year anniversary celebration, one of Business Connexion's divisions, the CDE Division wished to become involved with the local community and hence partnered with the City of Johannesburg, Regions 1 & 2 Social Services Department.
The Thuthukani crèche is the first communal crèche piloted by the Regional Social Services Department. 120 Children from the community is daily being taken care of by six staff members. Tomorrow, from 11:00 onwards, pillars and decorations above classrooms will be repainted by Business Connexion employees, while a clown and jumping castles will entertain the little ones. Business Connexion will also hand over office furniture and computers and will facilitate computer literacy training. The total value of the donation is estimated at more than R20 000.
Carina van Zyl, Manager Social Services of Regions 1 & 2, is very excited that the private sector invests in the community tangibly and visibly. Partnerships between local government and private sector are in everybody's interests and benefit the community directly. According to Ockert Pretorius from Business Connexion, they look forward to the day and to making a difference using their time and skills. " We would like to continue our involvement in the community beyond this once off event, and three more days of computer training is planned".
This is one ICT company that, when faced with the needs of the community and the resulting social responsibility, will not press Escape!
