Road closures for Summit

THE UN precinct surrounding the Sandton Convention Centre is to be delineated by traffic humps and closed to all other traffic during the World Summit on Sustainable Development in August and September.

This precinct is bounded by Alice Lane, 5th Street, Rivonia Road and West Street, in Sandton.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency has announced the following full and partial road closures for a three-week period:

  • Maude Street will be closed to the public between West and 5th Streets;
  • 5th Street between Maude Street and Rivonia Road will be partially closed with limited access to the public;
  • Alice Lane will be partially closed between West Street and the parking access to Sandton City. The southbound carriageway will be completely closed off to the public and the northbound carriageway turned into a two-way road;
  • Half of the northbound carriageway of West Road will be closed between the Michaelangelo Hotel access and Alice Lane in Sandton.

These closures will be in place for 27 days, from 20 August until 10 September.
