Get your free soil!

Earth excavated for the Gautrain is available for free to any interested parties that need soil, such as construction companies and on building sites.

OVER two million cubic meters of soil is available at various Gautrain construction areas.

There will be soil available for two years at these sites, which include Rosebank, Mushroom Farm Park, Sandton, Marlboro Portal, Dunkeld Emergency Shaft 5 and Park Station.

Much of the soil excavated to make way for the Gautrain will be used as fill material in other areas along the line, "but there will still be some excess material", according to a Gautrain press release.

The project is spearheaded by the Bombela Concession Company, which is responsible of implementing the Gautrain project.

Gautrain is an 80km rail link that will run between Johannesburg, Tshwane and OR Tambo International Airport; it is hoped that the railway will ease traffic congestion on the Ben Schoeman Highway between Johannesburg and Tshwane.

All interested parties, including building and construction companies, road construction and rehabilitation and dam building projects, can get soil for free. "Interested parties should provide their own transport, [but] Bombela will do the loading."

Construction projects, builders and others interested in getting free soil are urged to contact Bombela on 011 977 8071.
