THE exotic, colourful and spicy land of India is in Joburg this weekend, through the three-day Siyaya eIndia festival.

Taking place at the Joburg Expo Centre in Nasrec from Friday, 19 October to Sunday, 21 October, Siyaya eIndia is fully supported by the Johannesburg and Gauteng tourism authorities. Expect a fashion show, a Bollywood and Bhangra bash, a Hajj seminar and a food festival.

"The festival, which is going to bring the exotic, unforgettable flavours of India to Joburg, already a vibrant melting pot, will combine with the special charms of Africa," according to the organisers.

There is also a wedding competition sponsored by MNet - the winners of the MNet Spectacular Wedding Competition will win a fully paid honeymoon to India and a wedding ceremony for 200 guests. Enter by sending an SMS describing your ideal partner to 33154. The winning couple will be announced at the festival.

According to the press statement, the festival will bring together and celebrate the diverse cultures of South Africa so that everyone can experience Indian culture. "Siyaya eIndia is a brand, offering a series of Indian diaspora tourism and event experiences," explains Anitha Soni, the co-founder of the Siyaya eIndia concept.

Also up for grabs is a two-night bed-and-breakfast stay at the Zulu Nyala Game and Heritage Lodge in KwaZulu-Natal. The Harvey World Travel Expo is also being held at the festival.

Ticket prices are R40 for adults, R25 for children and R100 for a family of four. For more information, visit the Siyaya eIndia website .

"Siyaya eIndia is going to add an extraordinary and flamboyant dose of colour and vibrancy to Joburg, a city already known to be an exciting and energetic cosmopolitan metropolis, bustling with vitality and diverse flavours," reads the press statement.
