MORE than 3 000 people turned up for the first day of the Good Food and Wine Show at Gallagher Estate in Midrand yesterday.
The summer show is on until Sunday, 4 November. Day one kicked off with a cooking session at the Afrox Best South African Restaurant Chefs Theatre, with chef Raymond Rundle for The Grace in Rosebank. Rundle whipped up a scrumptious family breakfast.

"This is a guaranteed unforgettable experience for aspiring chefs and those who love to cook," said Allen Piper, one of the organisers.
A Wine Theatre is also on the menu, with wines ranging from Thokozani, Vredenheim, Oranjerivier, Lynx and Perdeberg to Plaisir de Merle.
The gang at the Coffee Theatre promises to give patrons their caffeine fix. They include well-known brands like Euro Coffees, Sprada Coffees, Wild Bean Café and Nestle Espresso.
"The coffee theatre [has been] one of the most visited theatres today and we are very happy to serve the best coffees in town," said Wild Bean Café's Muzi Khumalo.
For lunch, Yudhika Sujanani from Salaam Bombay in Fourways prepared mushrooms with sweet chilli sauce for starters and roast lamb at the Afrox Best South African Restaurant Chefs Theatre.
"This meal will make you want to come back to our restaurant. It's one of the most loved by our customers," she said.
For dessert, the Illovo Sugar Corner hosted Julie Trubshaw, who served up a malva pudding with a twist and caramelised apples.
Wrapping up the cooking sessions was David Williams from Piazzo at Montecasino in Fourways. He prepared potato and leek soup and fish with a savoury crust.
Stalls at the Good Food And Wine Show include Bokomo Foods, The Star Angela Day Crew, Boardmans and CNA, Beyond the Bean, the Eastern Mosaic Pavilion, Cartoon Candy, Easy Off Bang Pavillion, Pick ‘n Pay and Checkers.
