Pink plans hot
Jozi performance

Pink will get the party started at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate on her I'm Not Dead world tour – no self-respecting party animal should miss this one.

ROCK maven Pink – or P!nk – will perform in Johannesburg when her latest world tour stops at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate.

The I'm Not Dead tour will cement her presence in the music industry – and it will be in Joburg on 9 September. The tour also marks the singer's 28th birthday, which will be celebrated during the first stop at the Sun City Superbowl on 8 September.

From Jozi the singer heads for the mother city, where she will perform at the Bellville Velodrome on 11 September.

"Pink and her band are set to put on a powerful, hit-packed show with all her signature brash and in-your-face flare, whipped up with her unique blend of soulful funk punk-pop rock and roll," according to a press release.

The South African leg of the I'm Not Dead world tour is hosted by Sony Ericsson, 5FM and MTN.

Sonja Shear, the head of marketing at Sony Ericsson Southern Africa, says Pink is a distinguished musical influence, "[and] to sponsor [her] tour allows us the opportunity to bring the best in music entertainment to South Africa".

"Pink is widely popular with an edge that has kept her interesting longer than many of her contemporaries in the pop genre," explains Helen Graham, the 5FM station manager. "We're very excited to bring her live show to our listeners, who have kept her recorded work in our charts for many years now."

The tour is named after her fourth album, I'm Not Dead, which was released in April 2006 after a two-year hiatus. It has sold almost five million copies and won an MTV Video Music Award.

Pink was born Alecia Moore on 8 September 1979 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In a relatively short career so far, she has two Grammy awards under her belt, one for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. Her hits include There You Go, Don't Let Me Get Me, Get This Party Started and U + Ur Hand.

Pink is playing at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate on 9 September. Tickets are available at Computicket outlets, on 083 915 8000 or online on the Computicket website.
