BRACE yourselves for some spiritual upliftment – American gospel star Pastor Donnie McClurkin will perform two shows in Johannesburg in August.

The Eagles Christian Centre and Reverend Elias Ndeda will host the Grammy Award-winning singer and minister, who will be on a national tour.

McClurkin kicks off his South African tour on Saturday, 7 August at the Mosaiek Theatre in Fairland, Johannesburg. He then heads to the Durban Christian Centre and His People’s Centre in Cape Town on 9 and 10 August.

But he will be back in the city of gold on Wednesday, 11 August to wrap up his tour at the Sandton Convention Centre. Performing alongside McClurkin are local divas Judith Sephuma and Ntokozo Mbambo, and leading local gospel artist Lionel Peterson.

McClurkin is the pastor of the Perfecting Faith Church in New York, in the United States, which he established after serving as an assistant pastor under Marvin Winans at Detroit’s Perfecting Church for over a decade.

He is expected to perform songs from his album, Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs, including The Days of Elijah, Draw Me Close/I am Thine oh Lord, Agnus Dei, Blood Sermon and Church Medley.

Tickets for the concerts are available at the offices of the Eagles Christian Centre in Sandton, Rainbow Community Radio Station in Florida, the Shekinah Covenant Church in Eldorado Park Extension 9, Destiny Ministry in Lenasia and at Computicket. Ticket prices are R130, R200 and R300.
