IF you're into skimpy outfits, song and dance, and slapstick comedy – and you're not shy – then you're in luck.
A musical based on Debbie Does Dallas, the 1978 adult movie that was one of the first to be noted for its script as well as the obvious action, is showing at the Tesson Theatre at the Civic Theatre complex until 18 February.
It has been playing at theatres around the world since 2002, and its journey from film to stage has not been marked by too much change, most notably in the X-rated dialogue - this show is not for the bashful.

It is brimming with double entendres, cleavage-enhancing outfits and, of course, simulated sex. Although the show is a musical, the songs serve merely as fillers between and diversions from the costume changes.
The story is about Debbie Benton, played by Tanya van Graan, who leads her posse of girlfriends in a series of cheerleader routines. Wearing skimpy outfits, each girl reveals her personality. As the leader, Debbie has coerced all four girls to take on odd jobs to subsidise her trip to Dallas, where she has been selected to join the prestigious Dallas Cowgirls cheerleading squad.
As they work to help Debbie realise her version of the American dream, the girls discover it is far easier to trade their values for money than it is to pack shelves or catalogue library books.
Caprice Bourret, the lingerie designer and international model, actor, singer and businesswoman, directs and stars in this production. She plays Lisa, the gum-chewing blonde who is aware that the only tool she possesses to make her life a success is her perfect body.
Lisa's best friend is Roberta, played by Tessa Denton. The two are inseparable in more ways than one and even go for the same guy – Debbie's boyfriend, Dick, the captain of the football team. Although there is no full-on nudity, using dimmed lights and silhouettes, little is left to the imagination.
Played by musician Jacques Terre'Blanche, Dick stands out from the rest. He is the best singer in the cast; and there are those looks and chiselled body.

Debbie Does Dallas also features Brandon Auret, who is better known as the butch police officer Doep in the soapie Isidingo. Fans will be amazed at how gracefully he moves in stiletto heels and a feather boa.
Be warned – this show is adult fare and not to be taken seriously. Tickets are available at Computicket for R200 to R250.
