THE Rand Show is 112 years old this year, and for the first time it will feature a new exhibition hall focusing on domestic tourism.
It will be supported by South African Tourism. And again it promises the usual mix of music, exhibitions, educational programmes and children's activities.
Show jumping is on the drawcard at the annual Rand Show
"This exciting new addition to the show is aimed at increasing awareness of tourism in southern Africa, featuring a variety of coastal, mountain and adventure destinations and attractions as well as comprehensive travel options," reads a press release.
This year, the Rand Show runs from Friday, 30 March until 15 April at the Expo Centre at Nasrec, in Jozi's southern suburbs. The annual Easter holiday show will have a kaleidoscope of exhibitions, events and entertainment. Activities range from music festivals and outdoor living exhibitions, to artworks, food stalls, car exhibitions and funfair rides for the children.
Other activities lined up for the 16-day event include pet shows, visits by popular television productions and home décor exhibitions.
The Rand Show offers entertainment for the whole family
"The Rand Show is fundamentally a family experience and the composition of the exhibitors and events staged [here] is carefully selected to build and enhance this tradition," said the show's manager, Bryan Breet.
"Visitors to the show will be overwhelmed with the choices available to them – all in one convenient and safe location."
Tickets are R45 for adults and R25 for children under the age of 12. Entrance for senior citizens is free if they produce a valid identity. Children under the age of two are also free.
