AFRICA'S IT boffins will be making the Sandton Convention Centre their headquarters over the next few days.
Futurex, South Africa's leading information technology (IT) exhibition and Africa's premier international telecommunications show, is taking place at the centre, from 16 to 19 May.
The show is in its 27th year this year, and it is targeted at the swelling market of African and international business IT experts who have a direct influence on corporate buying decisions. The target market includes chief executive officers, chief information officers and IT executives and buyers, from companies ranging from large corporates to small and medium enterprises, non-governmental organisations and public services groups.
With the theme this year, "Where information and communications technologies and electronics industries and business connect", it is expected to offer enormous exposure to the targeted audience, enabling exhibitors to reach a large segment of the market in a short space of time.
Futurex 2006 will include a number of information technologies:
- Audio-visual, video conferencing;
- Customer relationship marketing, call centres;
- Enterprise software;
- Enterprise solutions: business intelligence, data warehousing, supply chain management;
- Internet: ebusiness;
- Mobile and wireless;
- Networking solutions;
- Office automation;
- Security solutions;
- Services and consulting: business continuity, outsourcing;
- Telecommunications: voice over Internet protocol, cellular, messaging;
- Training, elearning and recruitment; and
- Voice and data convergence.
MTN, Telkom and Mecer are three of the companies that will be exhibiting at the show.
The Futurex exhibition aims to offer more than just promotional space; it also aims to provide the ideal opportunity for leaders in the field and key business buyers to meet and discuss matters relating to technologies, equipment, systems, services and business solutions critical to success in the ebusiness age.
In an increasingly digital world, exhibitions are the only place where buyer, seller and product can physically come together, face-to-face, making such shows a potent force for business. It is hoped that exhibitors will also benefit from meeting the market face-to-face and building prospective databases and relationships with existing customers.
Registration online is free, otherwise an entrance fee of R50 is payable at the door. For more information visit the Futurex website, or call Aldean Prior of Exhibitions for Africa on 011 886 3734.
