Joburg gears up for
Africa's biggest show

It's almost Easter and that means that it is time once again for the Rand Show. And, as always, visitors can expect something for everyone in the family - from the funfair to the shopping and music concerts.

THE Rand Show is deservedly called the biggest consumer show on the African continent. Not only does it cover more than 50 hectares of space, but in its 111 years it has grown to attract the best quality and biggest variety of exhibitors, it provides top notch entertainment and it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the country.

This year the show kicks off on Friday, 14 April, running until Monday, 1 May, at the Expo Centre at Nasrec. Yet again it will be jam-packed with entertainment, with exhibition stands focusing on everything from cars to cows.

More than half a million people attended last year's show, and organisers are pulling out all the stops this year to ensure that figures are equalled, if not bettered.

The show's organisers plan on doing this by sticking to the trusted method of ensuring that it appeals to every member of the family - there are funfair rides and a petting zoo for children; adults can visit the halls for some home and lifestyle shopping.

Once again, there will be the ever-popular music concerts featuring top local artists.
