IT'S that time of the year again, when celebrities, government officials and local media personalities come together for the annual Discovery 702 Walk-the-Talk, which will take place on 23 July.
The event features five-, 10-, 21- and 42-kilometre walks that will take contestants from the Marks Park Sports Club through the suburbs of Emmarentia, Greenside, Parktown, Parkhurst, Parkwood and Parkview, before returning to the starting point.
The walks start at 6.30am; 7.30am; 8.30am and 10.30am respectively.
Government will be well represented on the walk, with no less than 15 ministers, deputy ministers and MECs taking part, including the mayor of Mogale City, Koketso Seerane, and North West province premier, Ednah Molewa.
Also taking part in the walk are several cast members of local soapie Isidingo, members from local band Watershed and jazz legend Hugh Masekela.
Former cricket supremo Ali Bacher, phenomenal Comrades marathon runner Bruce Fordyce, boxing promoter Rodney Berman and South African Football Association head Raymond Hack are also expected to take part.
Members of the media taking part include a host of 702 presenters, SABC chief Dali Mpofu, etv editor-in-chief Deborah Patta, Sowetan editor Thabo Leshilo and Sunday Independent editor Jovial Rantao.

From a previous Walk-the-Talk day
More than 31 000 people are expected to participate in this year's event, the ninth since its inception. According to the organisers, a percentage of all entry fees will be donated to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
Top local performers like Denim, Louise Carver and James Stewart will entertain the crowds after the event while the public are invited to bring along their picnic baskets and enjoy the day.
A limited number of entries are still up for grabs at the registration desk at the Marks Park Sports Club, from 19 July.
