ALL roads lead to Soccer City on Saturday, 5 August where South Africa's Premier Soccer League giants lock horns in the 2006/07 Telkom Charity Cup.
The teams that have earned themselves a place in this year's tournament are Free State-based outfit Bloemfontein Celtic which topped the chart with 303 757 votes, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns with 300 168 votes, Soweto giants Orlando Pirates with 260 126 votes and Kaizer Chiefs with 239 071 votes.
Soccer City will be packed to capacity as passionate soccer fans from as far afield as Cape Town, wearing their self-designed colourful outfits, blow their vuvuzelas and place bets on who will be the champs at the end of the day.
Over the past few weeks, soccer fans phoned in or sent SMSes to vote for their favourite teams.
Orlando Pirates will play Bloemfontein Celtic in the first semi-final match at 9.30am, and Kaizer Chiefs will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the second semi-final clash at 11.30am. The winners of the two semi-finals will meet in the final at 4.30pm.
The aim of the tournament is to raise money for charity through votes and gate fees, and organisers of the tournament are hoping to raise a total of R3,5 million this season.
"It is heartening to know that the aims and the objectives of the Telkom Charity Cup are being communicated to South Africans," said NSL-Telkom Charity Trust chairman, Leepile Taunyane.
Tickets are on sale at Computicket and cost R35 for adults and R15 for children.
