GET the latest interior decoration tips and items at the Decorex Johannesburg exhibition, with local and international designers on hand to take you through the process of turning a living space into a beautiful home.
The annual Decorex Exhibition – "Nature influencing living space" – will run from Wednesday, 9 August until Sunday, 13 August at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
"The exhibition is the ultimate launching pad for a spectacular takeoff of new products and a proud showcase for homegrown design of international standing," said Lauren Baird, marketing co-ordinator of Decorex Exhibition.
"With the theme 'Nature influences living space', our discovery will continue to drive trends on the home front - from the colours we paint our walls, to the design of fabrics, furniture and accessories. Examples like stones, bones, wood and seed pods are everywhere, from coat stands that look like twigs to room dividers that resemble a forest floor of leaves," said Baird.
The highlights of the exhibition are the talk shows on Thursday 10 August and Friday 11 August where décor and architecture gurus from Melbourne and Mumbai to Durban and Cape Town take on the topics of interior décor and architecture.
The talk shows have morning and afternoon sessions, in which experts discuss themes like Architecture Trends, Trends Shopping Design, Flourish of Fabrics and Inquisitive Colour.
According to Baird, the speakers will give informative, proactive and aspiring workshops for trade professionals and anyone with a passion for interior design.

"People can expect to discover new ways to transform everyday living spaces into a personal haven of tranquillity and turn up the tempo with fresh design trends, creative décor and essential home comforts," said Baird.
Among the big names that will be exhibiting are Stephen Falcke of Stephen Falcke Interior Design in Dream Rooms, a new addition to this year's exhibition.
Designers from Malaysia and Indonesia will showcase homeware influenced by their cultures under a design label called "exotic designer".
Plascon, a paint supplier and one of the sponsors of Decorex South Africa, will unveil the 2007 Plascon Colour Forecast, and Decorex Limited, using accessories from The Design Team and Pepper Plum, will use the theme 'white on white' for their decor display.
For kitchen-lovers, the theme is 'black is beautiful' and a stand hosted by Juliet Cullinan Wines will have chefs from top restaurants and wine makers strutting their stuff.
Other exhibitions to look our for are the annual Sanlam Young South Africans Thinking Ahead Competition 2006, and the Luminarie Design Competition, run by Regent Lighting and Osram which exhibits light designs from university students.
One of a Kind, the South African craft and contemporary applied arts trade show will be held alongside the Decorex exhibition.
Decorex sponsors One of a Kind space at the exhibition in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry and Tourism Enterprise Programme (TEP) a Johannesburg Tourism Company.
Tickets are available at the door or at Computicket for R45 per person. The exhibition runs from 10am to 6pm.
