RAP legend Jay-Z will make a stop-off in Jozi on 14 October as part of his global tour.
The mega-star will be performing at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate on the last stop of his South African tour.
Barbados-born Rihanna, known for her fresh R&B soul sound, blending dancehall and raga, is also on the bill.
The duo are the latest in a series of international acts to hit South Africa this year, following the Black Eyed Peas, Snoop Dogg and Kanye West.
Born Shawn Corey Carter, Jay-Z is known for his flowing lyrics, blending street and popular hip hop.
His professional career saw Jay-Z hooking up with Damon Dash and Kareem Biggs to form the now multi-million dollar empire, Roc-A-Fella Records, and later becoming president of the Island Def Jam label.
Jay-Z became one of the most respected rappers in the music industry for crafting songs from memory.
His 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt, driven by hits Can't Knock The Hustle, Feelin' It and the gold single Ain't No *****, solidified his status as an up-and-coming rhyme-wrecka'.
After his third album, the Grammy Award winning Vol. 2, Hard Knock Life, he produced one of the highest-grossing rap tours of all time.
Follow-up albums earned him another Grammy Award, two Source Awards, a BET Award, two Soul Train Awards, a Billboard Music Award, and three MTV Video Music Awards.
Jay-Z's 10th album, The Black Album, featuring Eminem, Kanye West, The Neptunes, among others, debuted at Number 1. The lead single, Change Clothes, became the fastest growing single on Billboard's hip/R&B chart and Rhythmic Charts. USA Today said: "It's Jigga's trademark lyrical dexterity and diversified deliveries that put him on a level all his own.…"
Unable to perform at the Peoples' Celebration Concert at the Johannesburg Stadium in April due to the release of her second album, Robyn Rihanna Fenty's fans will now have the opportunity to see her.
Signed by Jay-Z at the age of 16, Rihanna's debut album, Music of The Sun, was nominated for 2005's Record of The Year, with the first single Pon De Replay, debuting at No.2 on the charts.
Her second worldwide phenomenon, SOS hit Number 1 on the charts world-side, driving her latest album, Girl Like Me into platinum status.
Apart from having worldwide album sales in excess of 33 million, Jay-Z has earned himself a religious flock of fans and both he and Rihanna have a huge following in South Africa.
Both artists will perform in Cape Town at the Bellville Velodrome on 11 October and in Durban at the ABSA Stadium, Outer Fields on 13 October.
"We are extremely excited about bringing Jay-Z and Rihanna to South Africa," says marketing manager for Heineken, South Africa, Franco Maria Maggi.
