No waste
collection over Easter

Pikitup has advised Joburgers that it will not collect rubbish on Good Friday or Family Day. However, its garden sites will be open over the Easter weekend.

THERE will be no rubbish collection on Good Friday or Family Day, says Pikitup, the City's waste management company.

Good Friday falls on 14 April and Family Day on Monday, 17 April. Residents whose refuse is usually collected on Fridays or Mondays are advised to keep their bins on their property until the next scheduled collection day.

The only exception will be the suburbs serviced by the Norwood depot and the inner city area serviced by the Selby depot, where services will not be interrupted.

Marius de Villiers, Pikitup's spokesperson, said, "Waste collection services such as domestic waste collection, cleaning activities in the inner city, bulk collection services and dailies [wet waste] will be delivered as usual during Freedom Day [27 April] and Workers' Day [1 May]."

All garden sites will be open over the Easter weekend. However, the Linbro Park and Ennerdale landfill sites will be closed.

Pikitup can be contacted on 011 712 5200 or through Joburg Connect on 011 375 5555.
