Workshop for
jazz musicians

A THREE-day workshop is being held in Newtown for talented jazz musicians, with a view to performing at Arts Alive and Heritage Month.

July 14, 2005

By Tshepiso Seopa

UP-AND-COMING jazz musicians can expand their skills in a three-day workshop in Newtown this week.

The workshop, held by the Gauteng department of arts, culture, sports and recreation, runs from 14 to 17 July at Mega Music. They start at 8am.

However, according to the department, participants have already auditioned to take part.

After the workshop, successful candidates will be invited to take part in various performances planned for Heritage Month, in September.

They will also be able to take part in the City of Johannesburg's yearly cultural festival, Arts Alive.

Arts Alive, running from Thursday, 1 September to Sunday, 4 September, is the most anticipated event on Johannesburg's entertainment calendar and will take place in various venues around the city.

For more information on the provincial jazz workshops, contact Nomazwe Ntlokwane on 011 355 2578.
