JOHANNESBURG WATER has announced the appointment of its new managing director - Gerald Dumas.
No stranger to the operations of a utility such as Johannesburg Water, Dumas should feel right at home as he spent a number of years as CEO of Sedibeng Water, the country's third largest bulk water and retail service provider.
"Mr Dumas' five year stint at Sedibeng Water has equipped him with a wealth of information, experience and understanding of the water industry," says the chairperson of Johannesburg Water's board of directors, Andries Tshabalala.
Dumas was also general manager for the Free State and Northern Cape regions of Sorghum Breweries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters in Business Administration, and diplomas in product management and business management.
"He is up for the challenge of steering Johannesburg Water towards achieving its vision of being the leading water utility in South Africa," added Tshabalala.
The position became vacant after Heleen Kulyk passed away in August 2004.
