ORGANISERS promise that this year's Lenasia Show will be a "buzzing event".
The show, which is on from 4 to 6 February, was formerly known as the Lenasia Trade Fair, Motor Show and Family Fete. This is its fifth year.
Last year the event attracted 30 000 visitors over three days - and this year the organiser, Shahida Saloojee, is hoping for even more.
There will be attractions for the whole family: more than 100 main stalls and 60 flea-market stalls are expected. As usual, there will be something for bargain-hunters, promises Saloojee.
The focus will be on education and the theme this year is "back to school". The show is being held earlier in the year, so that pupils and students do not have "exams or holidays" to compete for their attention.
Many educational institutions have been invited to display career information and a number of local schools will put on cultural performances.
Other highlights will be a property exhibition and travel and tourism displays. There will also be exhibits of the latest cellular and sound technology.
The show's organisers would like to attract trade from around Johannesburg's southern suburbs.
Entrance to the festival is free.
The show is to take place from 4 to 6 February at Rose Park, in Rose Park Avenue, Lenasia Ext Five. Stalls are still available and may be booked by calling Ebrahim or Shahida Saloojee on 011 852 4323.
