THE Johannesburg Metro Police Department has made getting a learner's licence a lot easier, ensuring five of the City's testing centres are open on Saturdays from 8am till noon.
Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, spokesperson for the Metro Police, said: "This is also part of Operation Token Days."
Operation Token Days is part of a 500-day campaign currently underway across Johannesburg to enforce City by-laws.
However, said Minnaar, the operation "is not only about combating crime, but also improving service delivery".
The five stations are:
- Roodepoort, West Lake Avenue, Florida
- Midrand, cnr Rainbow and Dole roads, Glen Austin
- Marlboro, 8th Street, Marlboro
- Randburg, 5 Hans Schoeman Avenue, Malanshof, Randburg
- Laanglaagte, cnr Church and Main Reef roads, Langlaagte
Minnaar stressed that applicants are still required to make a booking at the call centre on 011 376 6000. Applicants will need to provide their ID number. They will then be given a reference number and the time, date and venue of their test.
The department is also looking into allowing residents to be able to renew their vehicle licenses on Saturdays as well.
For more information contact the call centre on 0860 428 8364.
