COUNCIL is calling on the public to view and comment on the draft Revenue Shared Services Centre (RSSC) establishment by-law.
The RSSC is being established in order to provide revenue services to the City of Johannesburg and municipal entities.
Its primary tasks will be to:
- Maintain, extend and improve the quality and effectiveness of revenue services in the City of Johannesburg;
- Enhance the efficiency of the credit control and debt collection functions conducted by the City of Johannesburg in order to reduce the costs of revenue management services over time;
- Support the provision of municipal services by the City of Johannesburg and current municipal entities by consolidating and standardising the billing and collection of tariffs and rates;
- Maximise revenue collection
- Improve service levels to users
- Improve levels of service to the City of Johannesburg and current municipal entities; and
- Provide data or services to other municipalities, organs of state and persons, natural or juristic, by providing revenue and other services on a contractual basis and in so doing sharing the improvements in service provision attained for the City of Johannesburg.
Any person wishing to comment and make contributions to the by-law is invited to do so. The period during which comments can be made expires on Monday 28 February 2005.
