JOHANNESBURG mayor Amos Masondo will lead a team of mayoral committee members and City officials on a fact-finding tour of Region 5 - north-west of the city - on Thursday, 5 August.
The tour, which will showcase achievements in the informal settlement of Zandspruit, will also stop over at Matholeville, Davidsonville, Weltevreden Park and Discovery.
The tour includes the official opening of the library in the Sol Plaatjie settlement, the first basic library service to operate in an informal settlement, and HIV/Aids treatment procedures in two health facilities in the region.
The mayoral delegation will also tour the Roodepoort Museum and Theatre, which recently launched a permanent exhibition that includes the history of Soweto township, Dobsonville.
Road shows are conducted annually in all of the City's 11 administrative regions, in order to sensitise City officials about the concerns and needs of the communities they serve. The mayor and his entourage have visited Regions 1, 2, 9 and 11 since the beginning of the year.
The Region 5 tour will be followed by a public meeting at 5pm on Wednesday 11 August, at the Hillfox Power Centre in Weltevreden Park, where members of the community will have the chance to address their concerns about service delivery and other matters directly to the mayor.
