IN RESPONSE to the huge volume of callers, Pikitup has established an independent call centre to handle customers' complaints and enquiries.
Well-skilled agents will capture customers' details and provide them with a reference number, which must be kept for future purposes, said customer relations manager, Marita Mathee.
"Between 1 300 and 1 500 calls are received every day and at the moment we have seven agents and three back-up agents, but the call centre will expand as time goes by," said Mathee.
The call centre, on 011 712 5200, operates from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. On weekends, public holidays and after 5pm the calls are routed to Joburg Connect, the City's general call centre that deals with issues from accounts to service queries.
"We get log tickets from Joburg Connect and we keep them for future reference," said Mathee.
She said callers should be advised that direct numbers to waste depots in various regions were no longer operational and the call centre number should be used at all times.
To contact Pikitup residents should dial 011 712 5200 or Joburg Connect on 011 375 5555.
