THE City of Johannesburg provides bursaries of up to R10 000 to support disadvantaged residents towards full-time further and higher education. The closing date for applications for the 2004 academic year is September 30 2003. Application forms can be downloaded from this website.
The amount of each bursary is limited to covering tuition fees, prescribed books and/or course materials. The bursaries are paid directly to the institution where studies are pursued. Bursaries are granted on an annual basis and a bursary holder is required to re-apply every year.
No financial assistance is provided for repeat courses or to take over fees own from a previous year of study.
Applicants must prove that they are registered (or about to register) at a further or higher education institution for full-time studies towards a formal qualification, aligned to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
