THE newly-created Johannesburg Tourism Company is to hold a series of seven workshops in October and November as part of the company's strategy to bring together the City and the private tourism sector.
The workshops are to be held to "commence the development of a comprehensive sales and marketing action plan for the City and the participating tourism businesses", says the company in a press statement.
The company extends an open invitation to tourism businesses to attend an inaugural Destination Marketing Indaba, to be held in November at venues still to be decided. Workshops will be grouped under interested sectors:
- stand-alone convention centres, 15 October
- hotels, 23 October
- other accommodation establishments, 30 October
- restaurants and nightclubs, 4 November
- MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions), 12 November
- travel and tour services, 19 November
- tourist attractions, 27 November
Interested companies are asked to contact Woody or Kevin at the Johannesburg Tourism Company on 011 214 0700 or e-mail woody@joburgtourism.com, to indicate which workshop they would be interest in attending. Bookings are essential.
