New timetable for
Soweto refuse collections

date, 2003

By Jonews Reporter

REFUSE collection times have changed in some parts of Soweto, with the evening pick ups being stopped completely, Pikitup has announced.

The new collections times are:

  • Mondays - Protea North, Protea South and Naledi
  • Tuesdays - Tladi and Emdeni
  • Wednesdays - Phiri and Mapetla
  • Thursdays - Senoane, Jabavu CWJ and Dlamini
  • Fridays - Klipspruit/Lakeview, Mafolo North, Mafolo South and Mofolo Central

Pikitup, the City's waste management company, announced it was making the changes to "eliminate evening collections" and "optimise the use of Pikitup staff and fleet".

The new collection days had been instituted "to create a balance in the way the depot services its customers in Soweto", the company said.
