Spiderman will be joining the cast of the annual pantomime spectacular written and directed by Janice Honeyman. This year Jack and the Beanstalk will take to stage, with the newly acquired Hollywood star.
Jack and the Beanstalk will be on at the Nelson Mandela Theatre from 4 November and will run until 31 December, executive producer Bernard Jay announced.
With brand new sets and costumes, Jack and the Beanstalk, promises to be "surprising", says Honeyman. "It's going to be lovely - groovy and hip."
Rehearsals for the show, staring some of South Africa's most celebrated talents, start soon.
Francois Schreuder is to take on the role of young Jack the Roller. A talented singer songwriter and dancer, he is easily recognised from his television performances in the Afrikaans pop idols reality show Zing, where he was second runner up.
Tobie Cronje, a familiar face on South African screens and stages, plays bad-guy Henry Hideosa, the Evil Giant's assistant. Cronje is a much loved stalwart of the Johannesburg pantomimes, having appeared in the popular Robin's A Cruise Ou and Sleeping Beauty.
The multi-talented writer, director and actor Basil Appolis play stock pantomime character Dame Dora Dimpledumpling, dressed in dramatic gowns. Appolis has been involved in more than 100 productions for theatre, television radio, feature film and musical theatre.
Described as "40, fattish, fab and funny", Fairy Fenella Fynbos is played by Val Donald Bell. Donald Bell can currently be seen as the "Madam" in the television sitcom, Madam and Eve.
And then, there's Spiderman …
