JOHANNESBURG WATER (JW), has awarded a multi-million contract to a consortium led by EDS Enterprise Solutions, to install and integrate enterprise software aimed at streamlining both business and operational processes.
"The aim of the project is to allow us to collect and integrate data in a manner that will vastly improve our business systems and analysis," JW executive director, Anthony Still said at a ceremony to mark the start of the contract at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton.
He added that the project is worth it as "the end result will be one of the better IT/Business systems platforms worldwide in the water utility business, which will enable us to adopt best practice."
The project, dubbed Watersolve, is expected to be complete within a year.
"Through Watersolve we are confident that our ability to be more effective and responsive to changing circumstances will be enhanced and in so doing move JW closer to its vision of becoming a leading water utility in South Africa- and in the process vastly improving our customer responsiveness," said Still.
According to a statement by JW, other consortium members involved in the Watersolve project are Waymark Infotech and Warwick Africa.
Intesol Consortium will be working alongside EDS, as a black empowerment partner.
